Exfoliants + Masks
Exfoliating is a crucial step in any good skin care regimen. As we age, skin cell turnover slows, and dead skin cells accumulate on the skin's surface. This dulls the complexion, inhibits absorption of moisturizers and treatment products, and contributes to breakouts. Different exfoliants suit different skin types. Alpha hydroxy acids (like glycolic and lactic) dissolve in water - not only do they remove dead skin cells, they absorb into the skin to stimulate collagen production and to break up clumps of uneven pigmentation. Beta hydroxy acids (like salicylic acid) dissolve in oil - they dissolve dead skin cells, and also penetrate into pores to remove congestion. Enzymatic exfoliants only dissolve dead skin cells at the surface. Many of the most innovative exfoliants have a combination of these ingredients for maximal skin-improving benefits.
We also carry an edit of super hydrating masks that are ideal post-exfoliation for optimal absorption, or can be used on their own. These are designed to be able to deliver more intense hydration than can be achieved from a serum or moisturizer and are perfect for times when your skin needs extra nourishment.
