Our international clientele often request an ideal itinerary for a day of exploring our hometown of Washington, DC, so here are our suggestions for an exciting experience of our nation’s capital, whether you’re visiting from overseas or live locally. It wouldn’t be DC if your schedule weren’t booked from start to finish, with the exception of a short break for a power breakfast among the politicos.

Ready to take on the day? Make sure to stash your SK-II Facial Treatment Mask in your suite’s mini-fridge overnight. After applying this brightening and calming treatment to erase any signs of jetlag, you’ll look revived and refreshed. Choose from an array of freshly squeezed juices and breakfast pastries at The Lafayette at the Hay Adams, but take your cappuccino "to go" and enjoy a scenic mid-morning stroll around the National Mall before heading to the White House.

A day in DC surely isn’t complete without a tour of the Executive Mansion. While at the White House you would not want to look less than polished and presidential, so refresh your complexion with the La Mer Perfecting Treatment to blur pores and imperfections and impart a delicate glow. An S+R insider tip is that spring and summer tours fill up quickly, so make your request through your member of Congress for a tour early: you can submit your request up to six months in advance. If you are interested in seeing the highly anticipated holiday decor, enter your Christmas tour request in June.

Stop by SHERBER+RAD for a skillfully applied makeup touch-up, or full makeup application, with our makeup artist in residence Enrique Valentino. Browse our boutique and take home a chic souvenir for someone special, as we are the only retailer of TOM FORD Beauty and Private Blend fragrance in the District. Take a tour of our space designed by renowned architect David Jameson, and preview Washington artist Robin Rose’s work, before you head to see additional paintings on display at the century-old Phillips Collection museum. Before you depart, Enrique will specially select a TOM FORD Lip Color that will be your perfect transition from art exhibits to dinner, and will leave you looking impeccable throughout the evening.

If you have your fully booked travel planner in hand, make reservations at hotspot Le Diplomate, serving traditional French fare, where your rosé glass and bread basket will always be full and the warm shrimp salad never disappoints. If you prefer to be spontaneous and don’t mind waiting in line, dine at Rose’s Luxury featuring eclectic American tapas and winner of Bon Appetit’s “best new restaurant in America” in 2014. This presidential favorite does not take reservations so be sure to get there early. Prior to dinner touch up with La Mer The Illuminating Eye Gel, which will gleam in candlelight.

Cheers to a day filled with DC’s best offerings; now it’s time to top off the evening with cocktails and a view. Take in the historic scenery in the intimate atmosphere of the Rosewood’s rooftop located in Georgetown along the C&O Canal. If the night is still young, spritz on Tom Ford Vert des Bois, a fragrance in which poplar bud extract infuses avant-garde edge to traditional green, and take a peek at the glittering view of the monuments from the W Hotel’s POV terrace where the atmosphere is always lively and the scene is packed with a trendsetting crowd.
